Free Walk-In Access Counseling for Veterans & First Responders

Beginning January 29, 2026, Walk By Faith Counseling will offer free, walk-in Access Counseling services for veterans and first responders (law enforcement and fire), available Monday through Friday, 9:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m.

Services are provided by counseling interns Amy and Donna (see bios on our main page) and are clinically supervised by a fully licensed therapist through ongoing consultation and oversight. Interns offer graduate-level, informed support, triage, and care coordination. When clinically indicated, referrals to higher levels of care or specialized services will be facilitated.

Access Counseling is a short-term, trauma-informed support model, offered for up to six sessions per individual, designed to help participants process a specific incident or period of heightened stress. Over the course of these sessions, individuals are supported in:

  • Processing a highly stressful event with another human being
  • Normalizing common stress and trauma responses
  • Learning grounding and coping strategies to reduce internal stress
  • Identifying next steps and appropriate supports
  • Transitioning thoughtfully to ongoing care when needed

This model recognizes the benefit of talking, reflecting, and venting in a supportive setting, which can help release internal stress and promote emotional regulation—particularly for veterans and first responders who experience elevated trauma exposure and may delay formalized care.

Disclaimer:

Access Counseling services are not a substitute for ongoing psychotherapy, diagnostic evaluation, or emergency services. Interns do not provide formal diagnoses. Individuals experiencing acute distress or requiring urgent intervention are encouraged to seek support through their established systems of care, including the Veterans Administration or other appropriate medical or behavioral health providers. Supervision is provided in accordance with applicable training and licensure requirements.
