Find Empathy, Safety, and Healing with Walk by Faith Counseling

Helping individuals, couples, and families find hope, healing, and connection through compassionate, faith-informed counseling.

Hi, I'm Terry.

I’m the Founder and Director of Walk by Faith Counseling. My counseling journey began after I found sobriety in 2001 while serving in the U.S. Coast Guard. Since entering active duty in 1996, and through my 2006 deployment aboard an Expeditionary Strike Group (ESG-5) circumnavigating the globe, I’ve come to understand the lasting impact of service-connected trauma. Through faith and grace, I discovered a calling to help others find healing and purpose.

After 26 years of combined service in the U.S. Marine Corps Reserves and U.S. Coast Guard, I transitioned into private practice, bringing a deep understanding of recovery, resilience, and the intersection of faith and mental health. I completed my internship for alcohol and drug treatment at Great Lakes Recovery in 2003 and later served my counseling internship at Coast Guard Headquarters in Washington, D.C., in 2014.

I hold a Master of Science in Clinical Mental Health Counseling and am pursuing my Ph.D. in Counseling and Psychological Studies.

I’m also the co-author of Walk by Faith, Not by Sexuality: A Compassionate Guide to Sexual Identity, Religious Integrity, and Inner Peace. I’m happily married to my wife, Holly, and we have three wonderful children who continue to inspire me every day.

At Walk by Faith Counseling, I’m honored to lead and support a team that cares for the entire family structure--providing professional and compassionate services for individuals, couples, and families, including specialized care for children and adolescents. We integrate EMDR, CBT, play therapy, and other evidence-based approaches within a supportive environment that honors both faith and personal growth.
